Tim J. S. Sykes, PhD

Tim is a Senior Geophysicist with 25+ years of experience covering oil & gas exploration, field appraisal/development and equity studies (both on expert and equity teams), gained across Europe (UK Southern, Central and Northern North Sea, including Moray Firth and West of Shetlands), Norway, Netherlands, Africa (Western Desert & Nigeria), Middle East (Oman & UAE) and New Zealand (Great South Basin).  With exposure to other basins/fields across Greece, offshore Ireland, Romania, Azerbaijan and the US Gulf of Mexico.

Actively involved in target generation and maturation for porfolio optimisiation, well planning & execution, velocity modelling/calibration for time-depth conversion and FWI processing projects, seismic well ties for well calibration (input to interpretation & velocity modeling) including VSP integration and has undertaken a significant number of interpretation projects across 2-4D.

With experience of rig site surveys (acquisition, processing and interpretation) for shallow hazard assessment, shallow soil assessment, cable/pipeline route surveying and well conductor placement.  With additional experience of land based geothermal projects.

He has a PhD from Cardiff University and is extremely proficient in Petrel, PaleoScan, OpenDTect, develops python-based tools and workflows to accelerate project progression.
